New image manipulation tools in PPT 2007

Hooray! PowerPoint 2007 has some great built in features to allow you to edit images and pictures without the need for any additional software knowledge. You can add effects, borders, shadows and reflections quickly and easily. You can re-colour images to match your colour scheme, and even place images within shapes. To edit your pictures, first you will need to double click your image, which will open the Picture Tools ribbon. Then simply select your effect and off you go! Here’s a few of our favourite new features:
- Put a picture inside a shape such as a circle, star, rounded corner rectangle or anything you choose. To do this, select your image and then click the Picture Shape dropdown and choose your shape.
- Add a drop shadow to your image. This is found under the Picture Effects dropdown. There are a number of default shadow options to choose from.
- Add a reflection to your image. Again you can find this option under the Picture Effects dropdown. Keep the reflection subtle though, otherwise it can look a bit over the top!
- Put your images in a frame. In the Picture Tools ribbon there is are a number of Picture Styles options. Here you can add a picture frame to your image - there are many options to choose from.
- Re-colour your picture to match your presentation. These options are in the Adjust panel on the Picture Tools ribbon. Under the Recolour dropdown, you can style your picture for Greyscale, Sepia and Black and White. You can also add a colour overlay to your image from your colour palette – a great way to ensure your images match your presentation perfectly!
These features can really improve the style of a basic presentation. There are so many options and styles to choose from, so have a go and see what PowerPoint 2007 can do!
